OUR MEETING LAST WEEK
Welcome to our newest members (Left to Right) Len Wilke, retired architect; Joanie Michael representing Rowan Economic Development Council; Angel Chapman-McDavid of the Family Crisis Council; Len Wilke and Blake Shoaf representing F&M Bank. We also had two returning members, Fred Dixon and Christina Rary.
This week’s presentation was an update provided by Rod Crider, President and CEO of the Rowan Economic Development Council. Rod provided a summary of the EDC’s guiding principles, which include attracting new businesses, assisting existing businesses, and creating infrastructure to support growth and quality of life to attract and maintain talent in the area. These principles drive the organization to establish partnerships, both public and private. In the last four years, the EDC has assisted 22 companies, creating 2500 new jobs and $986 Million for Rowan County. The EDC also supports a website for employment in Rowan County: www.workinrowan.com

Nan Zimmerman mentioned that all the recent birthdays are nine months from Valentine’s Day.
Rick Eldridge expects a granddaughter in March.
Great news Dick Franklin is doing well recovering at home.
Bob Setzer has once again been nominated for the Catawba Sports Hall of Fame and will be inducted November 9.
Ann Eidson has a birthday on Nov 9th, and Amy and Erik Young celebrate their anniversary on Nov. 12
