OUR MEETING THIS WEEK
There will be no lunch meeting this week, but the End-of-Year Banquet will be held Friday evening at 6:00pm at Villa Franca, the site of last year's event. We will celebrate the success of the past Kiwanis year and introduce the new leadership team.
OUR MEETING LAST WEEK
Donna Beaver, representing One Church-One Child presented the status of the program that we currently support as Kiwanians. Donna explained that when a social worker working with a family under the Department of Social Services identifies a child in need, they work with the program to provide essential items such as a bed, crib, car seat, dressers, and diapers to support the family. Although the program no longer has a brick-and-mortar footprint, they have helped 465 children this year. They are currently collecting new or gently used winter coats for the kids.
Donna invited anyone in our club to join the Fall meeting of Pastors, Coordinators and Board Members on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 6pm at Salisbury Seventh Day Adventist Church for a meal and a brainstorming session. To RSVP for the meeting, or sign up for the organization’s newsletter, or have coats to donate, contact Donna Beaver 704-267-7996 or donna.beaver@rowancountync.gov
President-Elect Eric Lipscomb presents Donna a check from our Kiwanis Club to support her essential programs.
Our guest, Donna Beaver won the chance to draw the Joker in the 50/50 Drawing but chose the Ace of Diamonds. The pot is now at $731, and it will be distributed to a lucky person when we draw a ticket at our Evening Banquet Friday night.

OTHER NEWS
Our New Year Meeting will be held on Friday, October 4. At this time our new Officers and Directors will assume their roles. Treasurer Rick Eldridge will provide a financial update.
On October 18, we'll be putting together toiletry bags for clients of Project Light as we did last year. Prior to purchasing what we need, we are asking that members donate unused items they may have at home and are not needed. These should be travel-sized toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, kleenex, shampoo, etc. A box is at the badge case each week to collect items.
September 23 Board Meeting
The photos are deceiving. Yes, this is an actual meeting with a busy agenda. The Board discussed important issues as Janet Haynes prepared Eric Lipscomb for his upcoming term as President. The event was hosted by Janet and Ann at the Eidson Estate and Event Center.
