OUR MEETING THIS WEEK
There will not be a meeting this Friday in recognition of the Good Friday holiday. Our next meeting will be the Mid-Year Meeting on Friday, April 5th.
OUR MEETING LAST WEEK
Our program speaker was Rowan County Sheriff Travis Allen who brought with him Chief Deputy Jason Owen. Sheriff Allen gave us an overview of what his team has been working on, including staffing level challenges to 98% fully staffed with young energetic deputies who are eager to take on current challenges that require aggressive enforcement - at the same time providing care and protecting our citizens and businesses. He acknowledged the generational shift from brand loyalty to empowerment and challenging goals. He also updated us on the K-9 force which he has doubled with a bloodhound and a therapy dog.
They also brought the newest armored SWAT vehicle which was viewed outside by members at the end of the meeting.

President Janet gave a preliminary report on the success of the Pancake Festival. A total of 1,710 persons were served during the event – about 175 more than last year. The indoor crowd was about the same, with take-outs accounting for the increase. If you haven’t contributed to the Festival, you can route your donation through Friends of Rowan after April 1 to be matched dollar for dollar.
Bob Setzer won the door prize. Tim Norris won the chance to draw the Joker in the 50/50 drawing, but he drew the Seven of Spades. The pot is at $1511.

Ronnie Smith had some great news including our own Jim Duncan and Erik Lipscomb making the newspaper. He also shared a few “syrupy jokes” on our successful Pancake Festival.
Savannah Shaver Queen celebrated her birthday on March 19th. There are no anniversaries this week.
