Don’t forget to wear your college gear for College Day hosted by Jess Vess of Crosby Scholars this Friday. Jess will give the club a report on the six high school scholarship recipients.

OUR MEETING LAST WEEK

Maria Lowder, Executive Director of North Hills Christian School gave us an overview of the school’s mission, growth and future expansion plans.  The school mission is to equip hearts and minds of the students to impact the world for Christ. They accomplish this by focusing on mind, body and spirit. Over the last 10 years the school has increase from 290 to 600 students. They are currently in phase 3 of 7 towards improving and expanding the footprint to serve even more students.

Ms. Lowder asked that if your business or someone you know have opportunities for Internships or job shadowing for high school seniors to contact her at 704-636-3005.

Ronnie Smith’s ticket was drawn for the 50/50 but Maria picked up the Queen of Clubs. The pot stands at $122. Jessica Vess won the door prize.

HEALTH & HAPPINESS

Dick Franklin led a trivia contest called “On this date…” After several correct answers it came to a tie, but James Davis ultimately won the grand prize, a $2 bill.

Both David Foote and Lindsay Triplett celebrated their birthdays on May 6. Erik and Katheryn Lipscomb and Janet and John Haynes both had anniversaries on May 5th.

James Davis announced that there are only 9 days of school left and reminded us that Community In Schools will have a booth at the Cheerwine  Festival next Saturday. They are currently raising money with “Lids For Kid’s” to support their Basic Needs Programs.

Tom McElveen’s granddaughter Carolyn Heyerdahl has been nominated for a Cappie (The Tony for High School) for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical (Sweeney Todd) for her role of Beggar Woman.  The awards will be presented at the Kennedy Center on June 10.

Keep Amy Vestal in your prayers this week as she is scheduled to have her baby on  Monday, May 13.
