OUR MEETING THIS WEEK
We'll be back at the Salisbury Country Club Friday at noon for a regular club luncheon meeting. Our program speaker is scheduled to be a cardiologist from Novant in association with Heart Month.
Plan to attend and bring a guest. This time of year is the best for exposing potential new members to Kiwanis. Give them a chance to participate in a meeting and with our upcoming Pancake Festival. Tom McElveen has updated our Membership Packet for use with recruiting. Pick one up and share it with your visitor.
OUR MEETING LAST WEEK
Amber Lipscomb with Sovereign Traditions was our program speaker. Sovereign Traditions is "an every day Farmers' Market" located at 1884 Landis Way outside of Mooresville (corner of Hwys. 150 & 152). In addition to providing local meat, produce, dairy, and honey products, the collaborative provides classes in agricultural arts and provides healthy food assistance to needy individuals. President Janet shared thank you letters from the Three Wide Foundation and Kiwanis International Children's Fund for our recent support.
Rick Eldridge won the door prize. Judy Foote won the chance to draw the Joker in the 50/50 drawing but chose a Heart card instead - still thinking of Valentine's Day no doubt. The pot has now grown to $1,190 with 33 cards left.
HEALTH & HAPPINESS
David Foote provided the H & H Report and updated members on the status of some we haven't seen in a while.
Dick Franklin reported his quartet provided "singing Valentines" last week to 29 ladies, including a 104 year old and a 108 year old.
Melissa Yates stated her family ski trip last week was "amazing," and no one broke any bones.
OTHER NEWS
In order to promote attendance by more young people at the Pancake Festival, we are providing free "Student Tickets" this year. In the past we have allowed young children to attend free; but want to extend that this year to any student K - College. These Student Tickets will be available at club meetings each week. If you have contacts with various student groups that could use these, please pick up a batch and deliver them on our behalf.
Photographs of the items that have been donated for the Silent Auction to benefit the Administrative Account are on display at each meeting. Bids will be taken each week through the March 1 meeting. Check out the items and make a bid.
Upcoming meeting programs before the Pancake Festival include Foundations for the Carolinas on March 1; and Mid-Carolina Aviation School on March 8.
