OUR MEETING THIS WEEK
We'll gather Friday at noon for a regular Club luncheon meeting at the Salisbury Country Club. Our program speaker will be Donna Beaver with the Rowan County Department of Social Services who will update us on One Church, One Child.
OUR MEETING LAST WEEK
Alexandra Fisher, Marketing & Development Director for Meals on Wheels, updated us on this service providing home delivered meals to older adults in our community. Currently 300 clients receive meals five days a week. 40 are part of a grocery program. The organization attempts to supplement its basic services with extras such as breakfast bags which the club spent time putting together after the program. Thanks to Janet Haynes and Ann Eidson for shopping for the items which were paid for through our Pancake Festival charity funds.
Erik Lipscomb's stepfather, Len Witke, was a guest again along with Margaret Basinger.
Wendy Weant won the door prize on Friday, a bouquet of cut flowers.
Len won the chance to pull the Joker in the 50/50 Drawing, but picked the 6 of Hearts. The pot is now at $664. Note: The pot will be awarded during one of the next two weeks as we close out our fiscal year. If a member doesn't pull the Joker at this Friday's meeting, we will just draw a ticket to decide the winner at our Evening Banquet on September 27.
HEALTH & HAPPINESS
Glenn Taylor gave the H & H Report at Friday's meeting. Jane Patterson was recognized for having a birthday on September 13, but was absent due to the birth of her 8th grandchild.
Antonio Cervantes Anguiano was recognized for meeting all the requirements to obtain US citizenship.
Jim Duncan had recent hernia surgery, but was at the meeting Friday.
Glenn Taylor reports he has lost 80 pounds by only eating between noon and 6:00pm and snacking on fruit.
