OUR MEETING THIS WEEK
New Year Meeting: We'll gather Friday at noon for a regular Club luncheon meeting at the Salisbury Country Club as we begin our new Kiwanis year. President Janet Haynes will turn over the reigns to incoming President Erik Lipscomb. We'll introduce and welcome the new Officers & Board of Directors as well as review the accomplishments and finances of the past administrative year.
OUR MEETING LAST WEEK
As the storm skies cleared, we held our end-of-year Evening Banquet Friday at The Villa Franca. Members and guests enjoyed a social time followed by dinner and a brief program. President-Elect Erik presided in the absence of President Janet.
Glenn Taylor was recognized with a 45 Year Legion of Honor Award.
Garette Hunter won the 50/50 Drawing and will receive $419.50! Thanks to Janet, Melissa & Richard Yates, and Ann Eidson for planning and hosting this special event.
HEALTH & HAPPINESS
Janet Haynes is suffering from a bulging disk which prevented her attendance at Friday evening's event. She has received medication for pain and hopefully will improve soon. We send our best for a speedy recovery, and thank her for her leadership as President this past year.
There are no Kiwanis member birthdays this week. Upcoming anniversaries include Jim & Linda Duncan on October 6; Daren & Ginger Fuller on October 7; and Dick & Barbara Franklin on October 8.
OTHER NEWS
We're pleased to announce the acceptance of new member applications from Angel Chapman-David with the Family Crisis Council; Joanie Michael with the Economic Development Council; Christina Rary with the Rowan Literacy Council; and retiree Len Witke. New Member inductions will be held in November.
On October 11, we'll be putting together toiletry bags for clients of Project Light as we did last year. Prior to purchasing what we need, we are asking that members donate unused items they may have at home and are not needed. These should be travel-sized toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, kleenex, shampoo, etc. A box is at the badge case each week to collect items.
