OUR MEETING THIS WEEK
No meeting on Friday at the Country Club due to our Family Summer Picnic on Saturday from 11-2 at the Rowan Shrine Club. The Shrine Club is located at 6480 Long Ferry Road.
Food and drink will be provided by The Hot Dog Shack. We'll be outside, so bring lawn chairs and wear appropriate clothing. Reservations should be made through the Club Runner app or Club website.
OUR MEETING LAST WEEK
Due to a conflict at the Salisbury Country Club, we met downtown at the Randy Hemann Room of the F & M Financial Center for our regular weekly meeting. President Janet arranged for us to enjoy Chick-fil-A take-out.
Our program was brought by Jason Smith with Lot 14 Auctions on Main. Jason is also owner/operator of the Hot Dog Shack that will provide our food at the Summer Picnic. Jason stated that it takes six months and 400 hours of training to become licensed as an auctioneer in NC. Most of the training deals with understanding "laws and ethics" governing the trade. He has experience in doing both live and on-site auctions, which are primarily estate matters. He emphasized the importance of helping families through their needs in what can be challenging times.
Violet Baker was a guest. Janet shared the news article that was published in the Salisbury Post about the Club's infant car seat project in coordination with Smart Start Rowan and Novant Rowan Health Center.
HEALTH & HAPPINESS
David Foote gave the report at Friday's meeting, sharing readings from Memorial Day and D-Day. Note was made of East Rowan's State Baseball Championship, as well as Catawba baseball making it to the Final Four in Division II.
It was announced that former member James Parks passed away recently.
David Potts has a birthday June 11.
Anniversaries coming up include Erica & David Taylor on June 12; Dale & Margaret Basinger on June 13; and Ron & Libby Bowers on June 14.
