OUR MEETING THIS WEEK

We will not meet this week due to the July 4th holiday on Friday. Our next meeting will be Friday, July 11 back at the Country Club.
OUR MEETING LAST WEEK

Dr. Anthony Davis, 13th President of Livingstone College, presented our program. He reviewed the progress being made at LC under the banner "Miracle on Monroe Street." Over the past two years, LC has raised $50 million to transform the campus and its offerings, with more to come. LC has improved in its application rates, academic acceptance levels, student retention percentages, and graduation rates. It boasts 13% overall growth, the largest of any of the ten HBCU campuses in NC. With an economic impact of $62 million annually, the college employs 498 staff, and manages multiple properties.
Guests included prospective members Katelin Rice of Partners in Learning; and BJ Kader, both back for a second meeting.
Jim Duncan and Jerry Lawson won door prizes, and David Foote won the chance to draw the Joker in the 50/50, but picked the 3 of Spades. The pot now stands at $254.00.
HEALTH & HAPPINESS
Ann Eidson gave the H & H Report. Her granddaughter continues to make progress in the NICU - gaining weight and learning to drink from the bottle. We all have high hopes for her discharge home soon.
Tyler Haines and his "missus" celebrated their anniversary June 27.
OTHER NEWS
Our program on Friday, July 11 will be given by our own Amy Vestal on the work of the Novant Rowan Health Foundation.
Our program on Friday, July 18 will be given by Anita Baker with Taylor Clay Products.
Thanks to Dale Basinger, Ron Bowers and Len Witke who have volunteered to help regularly with setting up items for the weekly meetings and putting them away afterwards.
Please remember to contribute to our "Kiwanis Blue Tip Cups" on the tables each week. The dollars you contribute go to our waitress in appreciation for her service. We started out with a strong response, but lately contributions have waned. One week we only received $6. If each member contributes something each week, we can accumulate a good tip.
Our End of Kiwanis Year Banquet is planned for Thursday evening, September 25.
